2016 has been a very eventful year. The world experienced mass migration, Brexit, the Rio Olympics, a Donald Trump presidency [horror!], and the deaths of many icons [George Michael, Prince, Carrie Fisher?!].
On a personal level, I’ve learned a lot about myself. The year started off on an emotional low. I needed to really see who I was and who I had become. I didn’t like it. And thus, a personal journey began. Meditation and reflection were my mantras. It’s still a work in progress. But now, I think I’m in a better place.
Travel wise, I started off the year in Thailand. From there, I went to Myramar, back to Thailand, Laos, then back to Vietnam. I went back to the job I had left the year before, albeit in a new location. And yes, change was good. I also journeyed back to the Netherlands and the US. It had been two years since I left Europe and three years since I said goodbye to California. Truthfully, it was nice to be back to both. I got to breathe fresh air and see family again.
I’m not sure what to expect from 2017. Of course, there will be change. There will be travel. There will be laughter and probably some tears. But most importantly…
