Two years ago when we first got to Hanoi, Robb and I were selected (or just happened to be available at the right time) to be on a TV show called Vietnam Discovery on VTV4, Vietnam’s international channel.
We filmed in the mountains of northern Vietnam, close to the Chinese boarder. It was a lot of fun and both Robb and I eagerly awaited for our television debut.
But sadly, the promised air date came and went with no show. Days…Then months… Then a year went by and still no show.
Hai Anh, a TA who got a job at VTV4 walked into the office on her first day and was shocked to see photos of Robb and I filming the show. It soon became a running joke of a mysterious show that we were on that never made it to air.
Suddenly, two weeks ago, Robb and I got a message from the producer of the show saying they are finally editing the show. We thought it was another broken promise until she sent us the script. She wanted us to do voice recordings on the day she sent the message. But we couldn’t because we had to work.
Everything worked out at the end. Oddly enough, on my TV, I could get VTV1, VTV2, VTV3 and VTV5 but not VTV4! The irony… Thank goodness for YouTube and online streaming.
